Our final backyard total? Fake lawn (indoor/outdoor carpet) swings, slides, etc.. Less than $700.. 2 hours to sew and clean the house without kids underfoot.. worth every penny! So? Do we over indulge?? :)
This slide will get hot this summer.. Larry says, we turn it into a water slide.. Thank goodness, I have enough super glue.. (works better than band aids)
The other slide (the tall one) in the back was given to us by our dear friends Andrew and Heather post their pack out in 29 Palms.. Our kids love that slide. This small one, I bought originally for Toby when he was Emma's size.
Final product.. we can't get them off the swings.. we are already tired of "Mommy... daddy.. I need a push!"
Putting the safety stuff on.. you can see our neighbors look right down into our backyard.. they watched us most of the day.. No, they didn't offer to help. Maybe we should have offered cold beer?
Emma and Zack giving daddy advice over snack time...
Coming together nicely. It would be helpful had we a level surface. It took forever to line up and insure all things were level.. Thanks dad for making him a perfectionist.
Yes, I did help.. Larry did most of it while I baked and made dinner. :) I thought my neighbor was going to freak.. Quit lifting that!!
And we decided.. we need a swing set.
This is the tree house.. also garage sale.. retails $300 I got for just under $100.00
So, anyone who knows me.. I love garage sales.. And Camp Pendleton has their own. This is the time of year to look as well. Everyone usually moves in the summer, and it's when everyone is dumping.. This house $30. usually runs about $150.00Okay- so Larry turned to me last night as we sat outside and watched our handy work and asked "do we over indulge?" Without missing a beat..I said most definitely. We are adamant about the kids being outside. With Larry doing daycare- we are even more adamant. Outside. But, the kids get bored, filthy, and we have lost our battle trying to have grass. Base housing is non-conducive to lawn. so, we went with indoor outdoor carpet to keep the kids out of the mud.. And to keep them somewhat clean. We can say, it's an improvement. so, this was our weekend project.. what do you think? Do we over indulge?? :)
